Unit 22 Rebecca
Task 1: Understanding 'single camera production'
a) Define 'single camera production':
Single camera production techniques is when only one camera is use repeatedly to shoot one scene.b) Identify the advantages and disadvantages of single camera production (refer to examples where you can):
The advantages: Easier to film in smaller spaces, aesthetics are also easier to maintain. the budget is also lower due to ca smaller crew. often used by observational film makers.
The disadvantages: takes longer to shoot, easier to cross the line. often filmed out of sequence to script.
with multi cam you can record many shots unlike single camera, series like Big Bang theory use multi cam to create smooth transitions
c) How does multi-camera differ to single camera productions?
In comparison to single cameras productions, multi cam wins in efficiency and consistency as it takes a smaller amount of shots to produce a film. however most film makers tend to use single camera in normal parts of the movie but when it comes to the more intense scenes. multiple cameras are used to capture multiple perspectives for the viewer as an example Avengers infinity war and Endgame utilised this during the fight in wakanda and the battle against thanos both scenes were made from compiled shots from different perspectives
